Brand Permission
Brand Permissions
Brand Permissions let Owners and Admins control which team Members can access which brands. Assign specific brands to each Member so they only see the content, images, and settings relevant to their work.
Why Brand Permissions Matter
As your team grows, not every member needs access to every brand. An agency managing 20 clients doesn't want every writer seeing all 20 brands in their sidebar. Brand Permissions solve this by letting you scope each Member's view to just the brands they work on.
This keeps things clean, reduces mistakes (publishing to the wrong brand), and gives clients confidence that only the right people can access their content.
How It Works
Owners and Admins always see all brands. They cannot be restricted.
Members can be assigned to specific brands. Once assigned, they only see those brands everywhere in Cuppa: sidebar, dashboard, content lists, image library, and more.
Unrestricted Members (no brands assigned) see all brands, just like before. This is the default, so existing teams aren't affected.

Setting Up Brand Permissions
Step 1: Go to Team Members
Navigate to Team Settings > Members.
You'll see a table with each member's name, email, role, and a Brand Access column showing their current status.
Step 2: Open Manage Brands
Click the ... menu next to a Member
Click Manage Brands
Note: The "Manage Brands" option only appears for Members. Owners and Admins always have full access.
Step 3: Assign Brands
The dialog shows all your team's brands with checkboxes:
Check the brands this member should access
Use Select All to give access to everything
Use Clear All to start from scratch
Click Save
Understanding the Assignment
Some brands checked
Member only sees those brands
No brands checked
Member sees all brands (unrestricted)
All brands checked
Same as unrestricted, but won't auto-include new brands
Tip: If you want a Member to always see new brands as they're added, leave them unrestricted (no assignments). If you want explicit control, assign specific brands even if it's all of them.
What Gets Filtered
When a Member has brand restrictions, filtering applies across Cuppa:
Sidebar
Only assigned brands appear in the brand switcher
Dashboard
Recent content filtered to assigned brands
Articles
Only articles from assigned brands are visible
Image Library
Only images from assigned brands are shown
Social Posts
Only social content from assigned brands appears
Generate Images
Generated images scoped to assigned brands
Everything works normally within assigned brands. Members can create content, publish, generate images, and use all features for their assigned brands.
Brand Access Badge
In the Members table, the Brand Access column shows:
All brands: Owner, Admin, or unrestricted Member
3 brands (or whatever count): Restricted Member with specific assignments
This gives you a quick overview of who can access what.
Common Scenarios
Agency with Multiple Clients
Assign each writer to their client brands only. Writers see a clean workspace with just their clients, and you don't have to worry about cross-contamination.
Team with Sensitive Brands
Keep internal or pre-launch brands visible only to specific team members until you're ready to share more broadly.
Onboarding New Members
Add a new team member and immediately assign them to the brands they'll be working on. They start with a focused view from day one.
Removing Restrictions
To give a Member access to all brands again:
Click ... > Manage Brands on the member
Click Clear All to uncheck everything
Click Save
An empty assignment means unrestricted access, so the Member will see all brands again.
Troubleshooting
Member can't see a brand
Check their brand assignments in Team Settings > Members
Click Manage Brands and verify the brand is checked
If they were recently assigned, they may need to refresh the page
"Manage Brands" option not showing
This option only appears for Members (role = Member)
Owners and Admins can't be restricted, so the option isn't shown
Verify you're an Owner or Admin yourself, as only they can manage permissions
New brand not visible to restricted Members
When you create a new brand, restricted Members won't see it automatically. You need to update their brand assignments to include the new brand.
Unrestricted Members (no assignments) will see new brands automatically.
Member sees all brands despite restrictions
Double-check their assignments haven't been cleared
If no brands are assigned at all, they're treated as unrestricted
Verify the save was successful (you should have seen a confirmation toast)
